Oversees and is responsible for operations of an entire plant, prioritizing team safety, food safety, quality, and financial impact while advocating the organization priority to foster a culture of continuous improvement through Lean and Six Sigma principles. Provides strategic direction that aligns our operations strategy with company goals. Collaborates cross-functionally and is responsible for the performance of all functions. Responsible for meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) and using data to maximize integrated profitability through participation in budget development and capital planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees a function typically through the oversight of managers. Provides strategic direction to the function. Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure department achieves business goals. Responsible for HR activities such as hiring, terminations, performance management, goal setting, team member development, scheduling, etc. Oversees the development of systems, policies, and procedures. Contributes to or is accountable for budget management for the function.
- Guides the development and execution of operational strategies, long range plans, and annual plans, including developing scalable processes that deliver the financial, cost, quality, safety, staffing, and service levels required to meet business goals and customer expectations while ensuring financial strength and operating effectiveness. Utilizes a strong understanding of P&L, complex operational financial planning, and accounting principles.
- Reviews and approves plans for the control of products produced, budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness, customer service, safety, and quality standards.
- Monitors external market to identify opportunities, issues, and risks in support of developing relevant tactics and strategies that deliver measurable impacts.
- Guides the design and implementation of KPIs, metrics, goal setting, scorecards, and communication processes that effectively translate strategy into action and performance goals. Ensures all goals and outcomes at the local level align to company goals, including Annual Operating (AOP) and Long-Range Plans (LRP).
- Oversees, develops, and implements best practices, procedures, programs, and policies that support team member safety, food safety, operational efficiency, quality control, and continuous improvement. Guides key initiatives that ensure continuous improvement, as well as consistency and standardization throughout the facility.
- Maintains and applies knowledge of emerging technologies and best practices in operations management. Utilizes that knowledge to identify, recommend, and implement new processes, programs, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline the organization and its use of resources and materials.
- Delivers and optimizes use of key operations management and manufacturing execution systems critical to the success of the operation such as Butterball Operating Solution System (BOSS) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Identifies process constraints and develops/deploys refinements to measurably improve results.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant regulations, company policies, and contractual obligations. Partners to implement and optimize safety programs and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent
- 12+ years of relevant manufacturing experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
- 5+ year of leadership experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Deep industry knowledge in turkey, poultry, other proteins (beef, pork), and/or food production
- Expert knowledge of manufacturing best practices, P&L management, inventory management, workplace safety, food safety, and operational performance metrics (i.e., cost, margins, etc.)
- Excellent leadership skills the ability to develop, mentor, coach, support, and motivate a large cross-functional team of people leaders
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and collaboration skills with the proven ability to influence and impact results at every level internally and externally
- Demonstrated experience delivering key enabling technologies across multiples sites, such as operations management and manufacturing execution systems
- Proven ability to establish and achieve KPIs across all operations at a large manufacturing facility through oversight, implementing best practices, and creating continuous improvements and innovations that meet changing business needs in the context of the company's operation strategies
- Distinguished at innovating, strategic thinking, and overseeing cross-functional initiatives while providing oversight and solutions the urgent, unanticipated events without losing focus of short and long-term goals

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
- Work will be performed in a variety of conditions. Occasionally in a climate-controlled office environment(s) and primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with varying conditions, such as cold areas, wet areas, warm areas, chemicals, and other site conditions. This position requires the individual to wear and work in personal protective equipment while in the manufacturing environment.
- The noise level of the office environment is usually moderate; the noise level in the manufacturing environment may exceed 85 DBA and require hearing protection.
- Occasional travel may be required.
