Hours per Week: 35

Salary Grade: 14

The base salary will be $67,680 - $96,590 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate's experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and increase the number of course-based (for credit) Community Engaged Learning (CEL) opportunities for Western students. CEL is an educational approach that integrates community-based projects into academic courses in order to enhance students' learning and help them gain transferable skills, while addressing real-world social issues. The Community Engaged Learning Coordinator is a member of the Experiential Learning unit within the Careers & Experience department and contributes to the goal of every student graduating with at least one experiential learning activity.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Master's degree in Education or related field preferred

Experience:
  • 3 years' experience working in Higher Education in an administrative role
  • Recent and direct experience working in community engagement field preferred
  • Experience building effective cross-sector partnerships preferred
  • Experience in program management preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with well-developed presentation and public speaking skills
  • Ability to establish meaningful and long-lasting partnerships and relationships with internal and external partners
  • Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment
  • Proven ability to effectively manage a project from beginning to end
  • Ability to research and keep up-to-date on emerging trends and best practices in the field
  • Strong commitment to customer service, including needs assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work in a fluid and challenging work environment with changing priorities and quick turnaround times
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong organization skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize for high quality outcomes
  • Intermediate computer skills and the ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
  • Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
