Job Opportunity - Communications Manager

About the Position: Irvine Ranch Conservancy (IRC) has an opening for a full-time Communications Manager. The Communications team tells IRC's and our partners' stories in a variety of written, visual, and digital formats. The Manager oversees all of IRC's communications activities, including staff and vendor management. The Manager also performs a variety of activities including facilitating meetings, participating in land tours, taking photos, and drafting a variety of written materials. The Manager has overall responsibility for the content and quality of IRC's external-facing communications. The Manager works extensively with internal team members, as well as external partners and vendors.

The Successful Candidate will have a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations/marketing, or similar field of study; five (5) years of experience in a related field implementing communications strategies and managing staff and budgets; and the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating successfully with diverse groups.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to write persuasively for multiple audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with a broad spectrum of tools and techniques including electronic and print media, internet, e-communications, social media, special events, brand/image management, and writing/production of collateral materials.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva for basic graphic design and layout.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365, particularly working in the SharePoint environment.

Salary Range: $85,000 to $99,000 per year

About the Team: IRC's communications and marketing team plans and implements IRC's communications and marketing strategies. They are storytellers who create compelling messages to promote IRC and its partners. The team produces written and spoken communications, including newsletters, reports, social media, photographs, websites, videos, and more designed to engage the public, IRC staff, volunteers, executives, elected officials, and others to protect and preserve the land.
