Communications Manager III - Instagram & Threads

Location: US Remote (hybrid available for candidates based in NYC or LA)
Duration: 12 months, with potential for extension
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We're looking for a media relations specialist to join the Instagram and Threads Communications team, supporting consumer and product-based priorities. This is a pitch-heavy, outcomes-driven role: you'll spearhead media relations for product debuts, securing placements across tech and consumer publications, next-generation media, and social publisher and creator networks.

You'll uncover and execute proactive storytelling initiatives that extend beyond launch cycles - landing coverage for Gen-Z trends, creator-led case studies, cultural music milestones, and trending Instagram content. You'll work cross-functionally with product, marketing, and partnerships teams to shape press and social publisher strategies for go-to-market initiatives, while continuing to build and deepen relationships with reporters across consumer, tech, and beat sectors.

What You'll Do
  • Build and maintain press and creator/social publisher relationships
  • Pitch, place, and secure earned coverage for Instagram announcements and programs
  • Develop pitch angles, press narratives, and outreach plans tied to Instagram features and campaigns
  • Track coverage and results, iterating quickly based on what lands

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of professional experience in public relations, journalism, social media, or a related field
  • Established relationships with media professionals covering consumer tech, youth culture, and social trends
  • Proven track record generating media interest and managing campaigns for consumer-facing products
  • Demonstrated success in creative narrative development for next-gen outlets and social platforms
  • History of effective cross-functional collaboration
  • Exceptional writing skills across press releases, blog content, brand narratives, and social copy
  • A highly efficient, analytical approach to problem-solving

Must-Have Skills:
  • Established media relationships (press, creators, and social publishers) with a track record of outcomes
  • Strong media pitching and story placement ability
  • Experience translating product features and launches into press-worthy narratives

Nice-to-Have:
  • PR agency background in consumer/lifestyle (fast-paced pitching experience)
  • Trend and storytelling instincts for Instagram - able to frame product features as culture/trend stories
  • Familiarity with the NYC or LA media market and an existing local network
