Job Summary
Alaska Overview
The Alaska segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, natural gas and NGLs. We are the largest crude oil producer in Alaska and have major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk and Western North Slope asset areas. Additionally, we are one of Alaska's largest owners of state, federal and fee exploration leases, with approximately one million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2025. Alaska operations contributed 12 percent of our consolidated liquids production and one percent of our consolidated natural gas production.

In 2025, net crude oil production for Alaska averaged 199 MBOED.

Position Overview

If you are selected as the Advisor, Communications & Community Relations, you will have a proven track record of understanding and translating complex and high-volume material into compelling internal and external communications. You will be able to counsel and influence senior leaders on a wide range of industry subject matters. You will embrace ConocoPhillips' behaviors of questioning, owning and simplifying and demonstrate abilities to help lead our organization through transformation with daily practice of these behaviors in your work and counsel to others.

You will be an outstanding writer and verbal communicator with the ability to craft and edit speeches, press releases, media Q&As and social media postings as well as internal employee memos, stories and executive briefings. You will be a strategic thinker, proactively seeking opportunities to amplify ConocoPhillips Alaska's reputation and key messages.

The successful candidate for this position will possess the business skills needed to be credible with executive leadership teams in Alaska, at the corporate center and globally. Additionally, the communications/community investment advisor will be fluent in critical communications, public relations and advertising planning/tactics and will demonstrate an understanding of corporate philanthropy and ConocoPhillips' strong tradition of giving in Alaska.

Strong awareness of Alaska business, industry, political and economic issues is required. The advisor must be able to write compelling content to influence a variety of stakeholders: employees, industry peers and association leaders, elected officials and community members.

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Community Relations, the advisor will work closely with colleagues within the Alaska External Affairs department including colleagues on the communications and community investment team, as well as those in government affairs and village outreach. The advisor will also collaborate across the Alaska business unit (operations, exploration, finance, strategy, health/safety/environment, etc) to produce numerous communication materials.

The advisor will have the capacity to master ConocoPhillips' brand standards and communications policies to ensure compliance, as well as a consistent voice and messaging. The advisor will also be current with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and understand how AI can serve our work in the communications and community investment spaces.

Your responsibilities may include:
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to business unit leaders and project teams; manage complex communications issues to produce timely and measurable results.
  • Develop news releases and key messages in anticipation of operational milestones and events
  • Drive internal communications strategies and plans that engage employees and promote understanding of the company's strategy and values.
  • Manage the AK Business unit's internal communications channels.
  • Develop content for the company's internal and external websites.
  • Support content development and logistics for leadership town halls and other employee communications events.
  • Act as a member of the business unit's crisis response team.
  • Provides strategic communications assistance, serving as a member of the Public Information Officer (PIO) Duty Team, PIO staff, and assuming role of PIO as needed.
  • Translate complex information into creative and effective communication concepts.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships and links with functional authorities.
  • Provide support for various external communications including speech writing, presentation development and other outreach efforts.
  • Help develop communication tools including videos, PowerPoint presentations, print, television and radio advertising, brochures, and other print and digital collateral as needed to support delivery of Alaska BU objectives.
  • Participate on the Incident Management Team (IMT) as required and attend IMT Trainings and annual exercises.


Basic/Required:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, related field or foreign equivalent
  • 5 or more years of communications experience
  • Advanced writing skills to include editing and knowledge of AP style
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Proven ability to influence others through communications
  • Self-starter, able to work autonomously
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience working directly with senior leaders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
