Full Job Description
VC firm and research institute backing the frontier of AI and computer science research is looking for a Communications Associate. This is an incredible opportunity to get in early on a small, ambitious team at an organization shaping how the AI research community tells its story. In this role, you will be the backbone of the communications team to keep the operational layer running efficiently. You'll work directly with the Co-Founder/Communications Partner and team across editorial content, social media, podcast production, events, community programming, and gifting. Someone with strong writing skills who is meticulous with the details, stays organized, and has a genuine curiosity about AI. This is a mostly on-site role based in San Francisco, with some travel to support events. 90-130K DOE + equity, generous benefits, unlimited PTO, paid parental leave, and weekly catered meals.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Communications team and ensure the function runs smoothly by owning trackers, organizing files and calendars, and maintaining processes.
  • Provide support to the Co-Founder/Communications Partner, including scheduling, communications, and ad hoc admin support to create leverage.
  • Support a wide range of content - from newsletters, and researcher spotlights to blog posts and event recaps - with drafting, editing, and fact-checking communications.
  • Assist with shaping the organization's social media presence through writing posts, sourcing materials, and planning content.
  • Support production with podcasts by moving guests through the pipeline from outreach to recording day, prepping briefing materials, coordinating logistics, and turning episodes into clips and creating follow-on content.
  • Help the team with organization events, including logistics, promotion, vendors, and on-the-ground support as needed.
  • Lead gifting and swap program, keep inventory maintained, and support thoughtful outreach moments.
  • Provide support with PR materials, timeline coordination, and the broader rhythm of workflows as they arise.

Qualifications:
  • Previous 3+ years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Production, or Administrative, ideally at an early-stage startup or similar dynamic environment. Plus, if you have previous experience with podcast or editorial content production.
  • Highly organized with tracking multiple moving pieces and not letting anything slip through the cracks.
  • Quick-moving without compromising attention to detail.
  • Process and systems-oriented to optimize workflows.
  • Strong written communications with the ability to adapt voice and format, and translate technical concepts into something readable.
  • Tech-savvy. Genuinely interested in AI and a fast learner to pick up new tools.
  • A strong eye for visual and design is desired.

*Please Note: Your application will be considered for all open positions. You do not need to apply for multiple roles.
