Role Summary

Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications and Collaboration Lead provides strategic communications advice across SWITCH BC and supports a coordinated, organization-wide approach to collaboration and partner engagement. The Lead advises leaders and program teams on communications strategy, messaging, engagement approaches, and information sharing, while ensuring partner feedback and insights inform organizational planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Produces diverse communications products such as communications plans, website content, newsletters, brochures, reports, speeches, educational materials, social media posts, monthly program summaries, event planning and hosting, videos, and presentations.
  2. Leads SWITCH BC's organization-wide collaboration strategy and supports consistent approaches to partner engagement across programs and initiatives.
  3. Develops and maintains systems to capture, organize, track, and report on partner feedback, advice, questions, and emerging issues.
  4. Maintains robust records of partner engagement and feedback to support organizational planning, decision-making, reporting, and follow-up.
  5. Works with program teams to identify opportunities for collaboration and ensures partner input is appropriately considered and communicated. Identifies themes and trends across partner feedback and provides concise summaries and insights to support leadership and program teams.
  6. Builds and maintains productive relationships with partners and supports timely, clear, and consistent follow-up.
  7. Helps establish common tools, templates, processes, and practices that strengthen collaboration across SWITCH BC.
  8. Develops clear, accessible, audience-appropriate content for internal and external audiences.
  9. Works with program teams to identify communications needs, develop priorities, and coordinate communications activities.
  10. Supports organizational campaigns, announcements, events, reports, and other initiatives from planning through delivery and evaluation.
  11. Maintains accurate, current communications and engagement records, and supports consistent organizational messaging.
  12. Works closely with the Communications Director and Digital Communications and Brand Manager to ensure communications align with SWITCH BC's brand, priorities, and standards.
  13. Provides communications support to the Psychological Health and Safety Program, including web content, partner communications, promotional materials, program updates, and other communications products.
  14. Works with the PHS team to support communications planning and engagement with Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees and other program partners, ensuring information is clear, timely, and aligned with SWITCH BC's communications standards.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Education, Training, and Experience

A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Business Administration and at least seven (7) years of relevant experience. Experience working within a collaborative multi-partner organization is considered a strong asset.

Designation or training in one of the following is considered an asset:
  • International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Canada Certificate in Public Participation (P2) or Certified Public Participation Professional (CP3)
  • Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Accredited in Public Relations (APR) designation
  • or equivalent training/work experience in public engagement and collaboration.


Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing communications plans, strategies, and producing a range of communications materials for different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to support partner engagement, collaboration, advisory groups, working groups, or similar multi-party initiatives.
  • Strong ability to establish collaboration and engagement systems for documenting, organizing, tracking, and reporting on partner feedback.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, concise, audience-appropriate content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships with partners across different organizations, roles, and perspectives.
  • Detail oriented and strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing demands.
  • Advanced proficiency of Microsoft 365, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Experience with WordPress, SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and other digital communications tools is an asset.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt priorities and respond effectively to changing organizational needs.

The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience as well as internal equity, and would be in alignment with SWITCH BC's compensation framework.
