Position Description
The Community Partnerships and Engagement Department's mission is to partner with residents and employees to enhance access, build trust, and co-create policies, programs, and systems where people feel respected, connected, and able to thrive. As the Communications lead for the Department, you will inform and engage members of the public, develop relationships with our key stakeholders that include City staff, community partners, resident leaders, and others. This position is devoted to work involving resident engagement, public education, public information, and marketing. It performs fully-proficient public information, marketing, outreach or program coordination that requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and the exercise of judgment to select and apply criteria to resolve problems and make recommendations.
The analyst reports to the Department Director and is responsible for designing, editing and producing informational materials; coordinating and promoting special events; developing communications and marketing materials; developing social media campaigns; updating social media; and recommending communications strategies.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements public relations, communications, and/or marketing programs, activities, initiatives, and events; designs, edits, and develops print, digital, social media, website, and other materials; oversees and/or designs graphics and layouts.
  • As assigned, takes photographs and maintains photo files; reviews content and materials prepared by other staff; develops proposals as assigned; and ensures compliance with quality, brand and design standards.
  • Collaborates with community groups, business associations, residents, the media, City departments, and/or external agencies; attends meetings and public functions; responds to media requests; establishes and maintains partnerships; responds to in-person, telephonic, or email inquiries; conducts training; and develops presentations.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or public administration, communications, or directly related field.
  • One year of professional communications, web and graphic design, media relations, public information, or video production experience.

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional communications, web and graphic design, or public information experience preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving, and skills.
  • Experience using data and feedback to evaluate program success and improvement areas.
