Full Job Description
The Commodity Manager will be responsible for leading the Americas sourcing activities for castings while working collaboratively with Category Managers and other Commodity Managers within the Global Category Sourcing division. This position is located in Toronto, Canada. ln addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are: • Developing category-specific strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders. • Supporting the development and implementation of sustainable supplier and category strategies that align with business needs via evaluating current supplier landscape, capacity, capability, and competitiveness • Developing category-specific cost models and cost-driver visibility. • Leading global cost reduction initiatives and conducting regular cost benchmarking to ensure market /cost competitiveness. • Participating in and supporting new product development initiatives by evaluating new suppliers and supplier capabilities for go-to-market strategies. • Managing supplier performance by engaging with cross-functional business partners to drive supplier performance improvement initiatives. • Ensuring full compliance to governance and best practices as it relates to sourcing, supplier selection, cost evaluation, cost change approvals, and supplier selection processes. • Conducting supplier, commodity, and procurement market risks on an ongoing basis to develop risks-mitigation plans. • Understanding plant operations and providing critical supply solutions as needed. • Developing and implementation of annual cost reduction initiatives. • Driving supplier consolidation to reduce supply chain complexity. What We're Looking For: To thrive in this role, you should bring: • Bachelor's degree Business or Engineering, or equivalent working experience • College Diploma in Supply Chain Management considered an asset • Supply Chain Management Certification (SCMP), Institute for Supply Management (ISM) certification, or Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) certification considered a strong asset • Minimum five-years' experience in procurement and category in industrial/ manufacturing sectors • Minimum three-years' experience in global sourcing and category management • Direct experience with high-impact casting commodity deep understanding of raw metal alloys, subtractive manufacturing, castings, forgings, stampings, etc. is preferred • Should have experience in identifying and qualifying casting suppliers in North and South America regions. • Hands-on experience • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in multi-site settings, including an international supply chain environment • Hands-on experience developing and implementing best-practices specific to cost management, supplier management, and risk mitigation • Strong understanding and experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically in an industrial manufacturing setting • Sound knowledge and experience in working with system-based categorization and producing procurement-specific reports • Ability to work well independently as part of a team within a time-sensitive environment • Exceptional data analytic capabilities • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Self-motivated to achieve annual goals and objectives. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong interpersonal skills and proven people-management experience
