We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Commodity Manager within our Purchasing team to help support our Automotive business. Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables. In this role, you will report to the Global Category Manager and will be responsible for global strategy development, deployment and execution. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive plans that deliver the lowest overall total cost of externally sourced production material. You will also ensure that mutually beneficial relationships are developed and maintained with Leggett & Platt supply partners.
What will you be doing as a Commodity Manager?
• Lead the development of global commodity strategies for assigned components and/or raw materials, ensuring year-over-year improvements in cost and quality and alignment with business and strategic priorities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders; secure cross-functional buy-in to commodity strategies, and develop comprehensive communication and execution plans.
• Execute contracts that reflect the results of sourcing initiatives that adequately manage business and supply risks with appropriate legal terms and conditions.
• Foster performance-based relationships with external suppliers; monitor all risks within the commodity supply base and adapt commodity strategies to mitigate those risks.
• Consolidate global commodity activities and ensure consistent implementation of the commodity strategy across all regions.
• Support regional productivity actions related to the commodity based on global material spend; evaluate the feasibility of productivity ideas and ensure their implementation.
• Ensure accurate monthly tracking and reporting of commodity productivity actions.
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
• Bachelor's Degree in financial or technical discipline, Master preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years in a category/commodity management position, or related experience, with global responsibilities.
• Experience in a Manufacturing environment, Automotive experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in building cost models to understand should cost, and how to apply the knowledge to achieve results.
• Highly analytical with solid communication, interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Highly motivated and able to work in fast-paced environment.
• Advanced skills in Excel, Power Point, and Systems Database/Query Capability.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication and training skills.
• Strong business and financial acumen.
• Strong team building and talent growth and development skills.
