Overview

Position Summary:

Responsible for developing and executing supply and/or vendor management strategies for specific commodities, which ensure appropriate product quality and enhance the company's ability to ship on time while reducing total cost and lead-time.

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities:
  • Responsible for the development for supply strategies for each assigned commodity.
  • Seeks solutions to minimize routine purchase transactions.
  • Plays a key role in strategic cost management initiatives.
  • Prepares analysis and plans for negotiations; leads in negotiation involving critical suppliers.
  • Develops contracts and supply agreements that protect the company from excess inventory, insufficient supply, unfavorable payment terms, hidden costs and supplier non-conformance.
  • Has a thorough understanding of assigned commodities including manufacturing processes, applications, global supply status, price trends, cost drivers and product migration paths.
  • Identifies potential disruption in the supply chain due to changes in supplier's business including their strategic direction, operating results, technical capabilities and overall performance.
  • Continuously seeks to reduce waste in every activity and supplier related process or transaction he/she is involved in.
  • Purchase and/or contracts for materials and services in accordance with company established practices and policies to ensure honest, fair and ethical relationships with vendors.
  • Exercises the appropriate controls related to the legal aspects of purchasing.
  • Will oversee the activities of the buyers and senior buyers on his/her commodity team.
  • Works with the Materials Manager and QA to maintain and implement an annual supplier audit campaign consistent with requirements for FDA and ISO 9000
