Full Job Description
The Commissioning Coordinator serves as the Owner's Representative responsible for coordinating and facilitating the activities required to move building systems from contractor turnover through the "Process Ready" milestone. This role acts as the central coordination point between the Commissioning Agent, contractors, engineers, vendors, design teams, operations personnel, and client stakeholders, ensuring all parties remain aligned throughout the commissioning and turnover process. The Commissioning Coordinator is responsible for driving accountability, managing handoffs, tracking readiness activities, maintaining documentation, and helping ensure systems progress efficiently through commissioning, startup, turnover, and operational readiness.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Systems, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting construction, commissioning, turnover, startup, facilities operations, project controls, or project coordination activities.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, mission-critical, industrial, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or data center projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning processes.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across design, construction, commissioning, operations, and vendor organizations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation, tracking systems, action items, and turnover records.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, project teams, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experience with commissioning, project management, document control, or turnover management software is preferred.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary coordination point for commissioning and turnover activities from contractor turnover through Process Ready status.
  • Develop and maintain detailed system- and equipment-level turnover schedules, execution plans, readiness trackers, and milestone schedules.
  • Coordinate handoffs between contractors, commissioning teams, operations personnel, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless progression through each phase of the commissioning process.
  • Maintain visibility of commissioning milestones, system dependencies, inspections, approvals, signoffs, and turnover requirements.
  • Monitor commissioning and turnover progress against project schedules and proactively identify risks, constraints, and potential delays.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Commissioning Agent, contractors, engineers, vendors, project teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication among all parties to ensure activities remain aligned with project objectives and turnover milestones.
  • Identify gaps in responsibility, sequencing, documentation, and planning, and engage appropriate stakeholders to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate and participate in commissioning meetings, turnover planning sessions, readiness reviews, and project coordination meetings.
  • Maintain commissioning records, turnover packages, checklists, approvals, signoffs, action logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Track commissioning status, open issues, deficiencies, constraints, and outstanding actions through completion and turnover.
  • Monitor the Commissioning Agent's tracking systems and maintain visibility into upcoming activities, required actions, and stakeholder commitments.
  • Ensure documentation is complete, organized, and maintained in accordance with project document control requirements and established folder structures.
  • Prepare regular status reports, turnover dashboards, and executive-level summaries outlining progress, risks, constraints, upcoming milestones, and required actions.
  • Support refinement of commissioning implementation plans as additional detail, sequencing requirements, and turnover needs are identified during project execution.
  • Assist project teams in maintaining alignment between construction completion, commissioning activities, operational readiness, and Process Ready milestones.
  • Facilitate issue resolution and drive accountability among project stakeholders to ensure turnover and commissioning activities remain on schedule.
  • Support project closeout activities by verifying turnover documentation, signoffs, approvals, and readiness records are complete and properly maintained.
  • Help ensure all responsible stakeholders are prepared for each turnover and commissioning activity and that required deliverables are completed prior to handoff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
