Lead Documentation Coordinator - Asset Finance

Description

The Lead Documentation Coordinator is a critical member of the CAF documentation team, who is responsible for determining the appropriate financing documents; ensuring documents have been properly prepared, authorized and executed; confirming that all conditions precedent to closing have been met; and completing due diligence to perfect CAF's security interest in the collateral. This role also ensures that all terms and conditions prescribed by the credit approval have been satisfied and transactions are consistent with product guidelines and regulatory requirements. Because the Lead Documentation Coordinator brings experience and a thorough understanding of financing documentation to the role, this individual is expected to handle basic document negotiations and will maintain their own portfolio of complex transactions and portfolio of CAF customers as well as reviewing documentation packages of other team members.

In connection with these responsibilities, the Senior Documentation Coordinator will have the following additional duties:

  • Review documentation packages prepared by Documentation Coordinators and outside legal counsel including documentation and collateral (invoice/asset) review, outgoing wire validation and approval and pre-bookings entered into system.
  • Independently prepare and validate all legal documentation on complex loan and lease transactions to ensure documents accurately reflect the approved structure and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide initial drafts of document revisions based on negotiations or specific requirements outlined in the credit approval.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of various types of equipment being financed to ensure appropriate documents are utilized and lien perfection in collateral occurs properly.
  • Analyze and understand transactions, including pricing, deal structure, collateral evaluation, credit, and tax components (including sales/use taxes and property taxes).
  • Manage the closing process with all parties, including customers, vendors, and internal and external counsel; authorize closings and instruct operations to disburse funds.
  • Independently book transactions using the CAF front-end system (Rapport) and ensure all transactions are booked accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform appropriate due diligence to ensure all conditions precedent are met prior to closing / funding a transaction
  • Research and resolve complex operational issues
  • Must be well versed in UCC requirements to review UCC searches, UCC1, UCC3
  • Be able to review documents that CAF purchases and facilitate funding and pre-booking in system of record
  • Support the Documentation Manager in establishing and maintaining appropriate procedures, training materials, control environment, metrics and reporting
  • Act as an informal resource for colleagues on the team


Qualifications
  • Requires 5+ years of related experience in financial services
  • Prefer advance knowledge of post-approval to loan closing process for equipment finance transactions. Prefer strong knowledge of lease accounting system
  • Prefer knowledge of specialty collateral including aircraft, marine, and rail transactions
  • Strong understanding of lease and loan documentation requirements
  • Self-motivated with an ability to adapt and adjust to changing conditions and priorities
  • Have a collaborative style, be flexible, and have an ability to partner with other team members across global time zones
  • An evidenced and accomplished history of independent problem solving
  • Established track record of delivery results in a complex environment
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities through planning and time management
  • Demonstrated motivation to assist with team goals
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Paralegal preferred
  • This position is available in Johnston, RI; Chicago, IL; Columbus, OH; Charlotte, NC. Qualified candidates may be considered for remote status.
  • Work Schedule:
