Summary

Our Actuarial team is seeking a highly motivated professional with strong business acumen, a proven track record of generating and implementing innovative ideas, and the ability to develop actuarial analyses in accordance with Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) principles.

In this role, you will serve as the Lead State Pricing Analyst for Commercial Auto, playing a critical part in driving business performance. You will identify key business issues, perform in-depth analysis to understand underlying drivers, and deliver data-driven recommendations that improve both profitability and growth outcomes. This is a high-impact role offering strong visibility, cross-functional collaboration, and continued actuarial development.

What you'll do

  • Build deep expertise in the Commercial Auto product, including pricing structures and profitability drivers.
  • Serve as the lead pricing analyst for assigned states, owning analyses and recommendations.
  • Provide actuarial analysis and support for rate changes and strategic initiatives.
  • Review pricing of new or existing rating elements and/or coverages, quantifying the top-line and bottom-line impact of rate and non-rate actions.
  • Assess and forecast the impact of product, market, and economic changes on profitability and rate need, make data-driven decisions and recommendations, and applying actuarial judgment where appropriate.
  • Utilize strong technical skills, particularly in SQL, to efficiently retrieve and manipulate data across multiple data sources.
  • Work independently, conducting reasonability checks to ensure accuracy and catch errors.
  • Effectively communicate analytical findings and recommendations to peers, business partners, and senior leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process and methodology improvements.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Actively pursue the CAS credential track, with progress toward ACAS designation.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by several factors including skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. Some roles at Mapfre are eligible for commission and/or bonus earnings, in addition to salary, calculated based upon factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Salary Range $120,000 - $131,000
