As a Commercial Lawyer supporting Nasdaq Verafin and Nasdaq's other Financial Technology businesses, you will play a key role in managing legal risk while enabling commercial success. You will partner with a small, agile legal team and cross-functional stakeholders to draft and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on legal and regulatory issues, and drive efficiency across the business.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements with clients, vendors, and strategic partners to enable business growth while mitigating risk.
- Advise business leaders, sales management, and product teams on commercial, legal, and regulatory issues, ensuring alignment among business objectives, legal and regulatory requirements, and enterprise policies.
- Assist in updating and streamlining of legal templates and documentation to improve usability, clarity, and consistency across the business, as necessary.
- Collaborate with Commercial Management, Sales, Product, Technology, Information Security, Risk, Legal Specialists, and other Business Units to support strategic initiatives and resolve legal issues efficiently.
Required Qualifications- Juris Doctor (or equivalent law degree) and bachelor's degree and admission or eligibility to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the Americas region.
- 8+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial law, with exposure to technology and/or financial services.
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial technology contracts for global businesses.
- Experience advising business teams on commercial, legal, and regulatory issues.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts for diverse, non-legal audiences and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Admission or eligibility to practice in Newfoundland & Labrador or Ontario.
- Familiarity with (or strong desire to learn) data privacy and cybersecurity law, AI technology, and emerging legal issues in technology commercialization.
- Experience using contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms.
- Background in financial services, fintech, or highly regulated industries.

St. John's or
Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (at least three (3) days a week in-office), subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
