About this opportunity:The Commercial Fuel Offtake Specialist will be based in Calgary and report to the Senior Manager, Supply, Wholesale and Biofuels within Canadian Refined Products. The successful candidate will be accountable for managing high-value diesel supply contracts, requiring the ongoing development and maintenance of strong relationships with counterparties to support the long-term profitability of commercial agreements. This role demands strong negotiation skills, balanced with the ability to preserve and strengthen long-term business relationships. As the commercial lead for long-term offtake agreements, this role will collaborate extensively with internal stakeholders across Commercial, Manufacturing, Logistics, and other key functions to ensure contractual commitments are met and business objectives are achieved.
What you'll do:- Lead the commercial management of high-value, long-term, and complex diesel offtake agreements, ensuring profitability, operational performance, and contract compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the Canadian and U.S. refined products markets.
- Develop and lead structured commercial review processes, providing VP-level reporting on performance, risks, opportunities, and contract outcomes.
- Influence and coordinate Marketing, Logistics, Manufacturing, Business Development, and other stakeholders to meet contractual commitments, mitigate risks, and capture growth opportunities.
- Lead expansion of the commercial footprint by developing new long-term partnerships across industries and regions.
- Serve as lead negotiator for complex commercial discussions, resolving issues while protecting profitability, competitiveness, and strategic objectives.
- Support optimization and integrated supply planning through market intelligence, demand forecasting, nominations, lifting execution, and alignment with the Lloydminster diesel supply plan.
- Provide leadership and guidance to advisors while driving continuous improvement initiatives, contract amendments, and prioritized action plans to address opportunities and vulnerabilities.
Who you are:Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in refined products supply, logistics, and marketing within North American markets.
- Substantial experience negotiating long-term refined products supply and commercial agreements.
- Extensive experience managing long-term agreements for diesel, gasoline, and/or jet fuel.
- Deep understanding of Canadian rack pricing mechanisms, including diesel, gasoline, and renewable fuels.
- Expert knowledge of Canadian refined products markets, including supply, demand, pricing dynamics, and market fundamentals.
- Proven ability to navigate complex commercial environments and drive value through strategic supply and marketing initiatives.
- Strong commercial, analytical, and relationship management skills, with experience influencing internal and external stakeholders at senior levels.
