What We Are Looking For

The Commercial /Account Services Analyst position, reporting to the Director, Account Services - North/Central Pipelines Marketing is responsible for working as a team member with regard to monthly transportation invoicing, revenue plan, compliance program, and Marketing support.

What You Will Do

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Preparation and evaluation of monthly invoices in compliance with pipeline tariffs and SOX controls. Ensure customer invoices are processed accurately and timely.
  • During the month, the Analyst monitors preliminary current month invoice data to ensure that all charges are valid and calculating correctly. Examples of these charges include:
    • Reservation Charges
    • Commodity Charges
    • Capacity Release Credits
    • Discount and related Charges
    • Cashouts and Imbalance charges
    • Storage and related Charges
  • Participate in revenue plan and biweekly forecasting.
  • Participate in Contracting:
    • Review contract set-up in DART
    • Review/Maintain Charge Set-up
    • Monitor Discount Entry
  • Review and reporting of Account Receivables including:
    • Work with Accounts Receivable Dept. to update the Obligor Report
    • AR aging analysis
    • Validation of invoices, monitoring delinquency reporting
    • Assist with following up on outstanding balances
  • Participate in managing various aspects of group's Regulatory Compliance program
    • Review Transactional Posting Set-up (weekly)
    • Maintain Procedures/Controls
    • Respond to Audit Requests from internal and external auditors
    • Provide Information for Reporting (Form 2, etc...)
    • Assist with Index of Customer posting review
    • Assist with Tariff-related questions
    • Perform various daily, weekly, monthly, annual reporting activities relating to Compliance
  • Participate in Monthly Revenue Reporting and Plan tracking. Review and compare monthly invoices with Plan.
  • Analyze financial information; recognize and report on significant variances, trends and irregularities as requested.
  • Participate in development and testing of processes in DART relating to invoicing and other Account Services processes.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of proprietary DART system and running required reports and summaries with regard to invoicing, contract information, rates and surcharges, penalties, cashout, etc.
  • Participate in various activates with regard to compliance with all internal SOX controls, including documentation of process flows, identification of risks, implementations of controls mitigating such risk, and evidence of process compliance as it relates to invoicing.
  • Monitor, analyze and report as needed capacity releases, discounts, Park and Loan.
  • Manage various customer related activities, responding to and resolving customer inquiries and issues.
  • Train customers about details on services offered, information and reports available, and use of pipeline proprietary transportation systems.
  • Lead efforts to continually evaluate and review related processes for efficiency gains and improvements.

Working conditions:
  • Hybrid Schedule Available - Office in Houston (Monday-Wednesday)/Remote (Thursday, Friday)
  • Overtime required and expected as necessary, often on short notice or without notice.
  • Tasks often on fixed and tight deadlines for multiple, often simultaneous, projects.

What You Need

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related discipline
  • Ability to retrieve and analyze large amounts of data in a short amount of time
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve simple to complex issues
  • Highly motivated individual with the initiative and ability to work through complex issues
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft software products and the ability to learn proprietary computer systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be detail oriented, yet able to communicate the larger picture to the management team
  • Resourceful with an ability to gather, synthesize and disseminate information

Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of DART transportations systems
