Initial salary placement is based on verified and accepted educational/work experience in accordance with the current City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule. The annual salary range upon entry is from $75,466 to $115,214 for 175 days of service or pro-rated for one semester or fewer days of service. New full-time faculty hires will have two additional service days, in their first year of service only, for the purpose of attending mandatory new faculty orientation. They will receive "independent flex credit" for such attendance, but no additional pay.

Position Description

In collaboration with the Department Chair, the College-Wide Tutoring Faculty Coordinator provides leadership and oversight for CCSF's Student Tutoring and Resource Centers (STAR Centers) across all District locations, community partner sites, and online platforms. This position ensures that credit and noncredit students have access to high-quality academic support that advances their success. Responsibilities include supervising STAR Center operations, overseeing the peer tutoring program, instructing Learning Assistance courses, managing program budgets, fostering campus-wide collaboration, and coordinating program assessment and continuous improvement.

Job Duties

This is an in-person position. At least 80% of total hours will be conducted on-site at the Ocean Campus and sites throughout San Francisco including CCSF's Mission Center, Chinatown/North Beach Center, John Adams Center, additional CCSF locations, and at outreach, networking, and community partner locations.
Leadership and Program Oversight1. In collaboration with the Department Chair, provide leadership and program oversight for Student Tutoring and Resource Centers (STAR Centers) operations across Ocean Campus, all CCSF Centers, and online, serving both credit and noncredit students.

2. Collaborate with the Department Chair, staff, and Dean of Library, Academic Resources, Educational Technology, and Online Programs to ensure seamless, college-wide academic support service delivery.

3. Manage program budgets, data collection, impact assessment, and required reporting.

4. Utilize Canvas, student information systems, and other institutional software platforms to manage service delivery, track student utilization, and support reporting and program assessment.

Tutoring Services and Coordination5. Coordinate college-wide peer and professional tutoring services across modalities - drop-in, appointment-based, embedded, and online.

6. Develop, deliver, and maintain tutor training curriculum grounded in the latest research.

7. Develop and maintain curriculum for additional Learning Assistance courses.

8. Maintain professional development infrastructure for tutors, discipline faculty, and staff.

Student Success9.Facilitate access to tutoring services that support credit matriculation, certificate and degree completion, and transfer, with an intentional focus on students from historically underserved and marginalized populations, including those identified in the Student-Centered Funding Formula.

10. Design and implement programming that supports students with disabilities, learning differences, neurodivergent students, and parenting students.

11. Design and implement programming that supports noncredit-to-credit pathways and College Success gateway courses.

Pedagogy and Learning Environment12.Design and implement learning activities and materials grounded in research-informed learning theory, healing-centered pedagogy, and culturally responsive practices.

13. Provide learning spaces with the necessary materials and technologies.

14. Cultivate an aesthetic of belonging that promotes learning for all students.

Partnerships and Collaboration15. In collaboration with the Department Chair, build partnerships across the college to integrate classroom instruction with academic support, identify discipline-specific student-success skills, and provide embedded tutoring in historically challenging courses.

16. Collaborate with college-wide programs, such as Bridge to College, and additional initiatives, including those for parenting students and students with disabilities.

17. In collaboration with the Department Chair, pursue grants aligned with institutional retention and success goals.

18. Participate in department and college functions, including staff meetings, committee work, curriculum development, course revisions, and course assessments.

Compliance and Reporting19.Maintain compliance with state mandates and implement communities of practice for academic support.

20. Oversee attendance collection systems and report apportionment collection data.

21. Support the Department Chair in Program Review and reporting to funders, such as California Adult Education Programming.

22. In collaboration with the Department Chair, increase apportionment through expanding LERN 1000 offerings and faculty support.

23. Participate in professional development and ongoing training in Learning Assistance.

Teaching (at least 20% of load)24. Teach Learning Assistance Department courses in-person (day, evening, or weekend) or online at various sites, which may include Ocean Campus, Mission Center, Chinatown/North Beach Center, John Adams Center, SF Juvenile Justice Facility, SFUSD high schools, SF County Jail (San Bruno and San Francisco), and community partner sites throughout the District.

25. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

26. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).

Any master's degree level discipline in which learning assistance or tutoring is provided at the college where the coordinator is employed;

OR

A master's degree in education, educational psychology, or instructional psychology, or other master's degree with emphasis in adult learning theory (NOTE: Minimum qualifications do not apply to tutoring or learning assistance for which no apportionment is claimed.)

OR
Hold a fully-satisfied UFE California Community College Counselor Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).
