Job Summary

In this crucial you will lead the accounts receivable collections function by developing collection strategies, overseeing team performance, monitoring aging receivables, resolving payment issues, and ensuring compliance with credit and collection regulations. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of collections leadership experience, strong expertise in accounts receivable management, negotiation, reporting, and Excel, with the ability to improve processes, mentor staff, and collaborate effectively across departments.

Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement collection strategies to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
  • Monitor aging accounts receivable and initiate follow-ups to ensure timely payment.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the collection team to assess performance and address any challenges.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve customer disputes and discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain extensive documentation of collection activities and communications.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on collection performance metrics.
  • Manage relationships with external collection agencies, when necessary.
  • Identify improvement areas for the collection process and suggest best practices.
  • Train and mentor team members to enhance skills and achieve departmental objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations regarding collections and credit practices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a collections role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a proven track record of managing teams.
  • Strong understanding of collection strategies, credit policies, and accounts receivable management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations with professionalism and tact.
  • Familiarity with accounting software and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.


Travel Requirements

This is an onsite position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be as much as 25% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

U.S. Work Authorization

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position supports a federal government contract and therefore requires an active Secret clearance.
