The
Code Enforcement Supervisor earns a competitive salary of
$71,682.31 - $91,394.94, based on qualifications. Additionally, the
city pays all premiums for our employees'

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CODE ENFORCEMENTThis role will primarily emphasize responsibilities related to code, investigations, and regulation.Job SummaryThe purpose of this class within the organization is to ensure the safety and health of the citizens of Pearland by vigilantly enforcing the standards established by the ordinances approved by the City Council, State Laws, and International Code Council volumes as adopted in regard to dangerous buildings, accumulation of trash and debris, illegal dumping, vehicle violations, and other general nuisance violations.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Essential Functions- Supervises, manages, and assists code with caseloads; handles citizen complaints; attends departmental meetings.
- Provides inter-departmental assistance; oversees continuing education; manages departmental payroll; orders departmental supplies and uniforms.
- Runs reports and ensures City codes are enforced.
- Implements processes for officers to productively achieve their daily workload; keeps crew informed of changes and updates daily.
- Prioritizes cases based on severity.
- Ensures agendas are updated and cases are being worked and updated.
- Keeps track of dilapidated structures list and follows through from beginning to end to ensure payments for invoices; performs lien placements.
- Oversees performance measures and reports; conducts employee appraisals; manages budget and ensures invoices are paid.
- Performs code ordinance reviews and makes occasional changes.
- Performs related work as assigned.
RequirementsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate's Degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college of closely related field.
- Four years of code enforcement or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses:
- Valid Texas Driver's License
- Code Enforcement 1
- Code Enforcement 2
Preferred:
- Texas Code Enforcement Officer II certificate
- Bachelor's Degree
- Seven years of experience in Code Enforcement
- Bilingual/Spanish
