Following six years under the Police Department, the Code Enforcement Division has officially moved back to the Community Development Department. This transition marks a fresh start for the division. As the Manager, you will have the direct opportunity to develop and shape the program from the ground up, including hiring two new Code Enforcement Officers to build your team.
About the Team
The Community Development Department is responsible for planning the physical development of the community and ensuring that new development and modifications to existing development comply with City and State laws. The Department provides technical information to residents, business owners, developers, and commissions regarding local codes, ordinances, and other related issues.
Recently, the Code Enforcement Division was reintegrated into the Community Development Department to achieve better operational efficiencies, given that building and zoning issues make up the vast majority of Code Enforcement's responsibilities. Code Enforcement staff respond to complaints, investigate violations, and assist property owners in resolving issues such as unpermitted construction or unsafe conditions. Through balanced education and enforcement, the division promotes safe, well-maintained neighborhoods across San Bruno.
