Full Job Description
A Snapshot of Your Day

In this role, you'll support the Thermal Spray & Robotics team by advancing coating process development and managing qualification projects that increase throughput and ensure business continuity. Your day blends hands-on thermal spray process engineering with structured project execution, all within the Winston Technology Center's advanced manufacturing environment.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Design and optimize thermal spray coating processes to improve efficiency, quality, and repeatability.
  • Troubleshoot coating, robotics, and equipment issues to resolve complex production challenges.
  • Develop tooling, fixtures, and procedures that support coating fabrication and application.
  • Conduct tests and experiments to validate improvements and control key process variables.
  • Manage coating qualification projects to ensure timely completion and increased throughput.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to align technical specifications with manufacturability and quality requirements.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field) and 2-5 years of manufacturing process engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with coating technologies, preferably thermal spray, including HVOF and APS microstructure understanding; Candidates with more experience may be eligible for a more senior level position.
  • Proficiency in engineering tools such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, Robotmaster, and familiarity with Fanuc programming.
  • Strong process and quality management skills including SPC, continuous improvement, and qualification documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues across coatings, robotics, and equipment.
  • Analytical and influencing skills to drive process improvements and cross-functional alignment.
