Full Job Description
Accountability:

Act as engineering point-of-contact to cross functional project teams and customers. Facilitate cross coordination between engineering disciplines (Controls, Mechanical, Electrical, Process and Software). Manage engineering deliverables required for proposals, development, and sold projects. Individual will have design control, guidance, & releaseresponsibilities.

Scope and Responsibilities:

Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Plan, develop and manage engineering deliverables and resources.
  • Function both as a design contributor and team leader.
  • Participate in all phases of a project from proposal through final customer acceptance.
  • Coordinate technical teams to achieve goals while minimizing project cost and risk.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor engineering budget and schedule for multiple projects.
  • Working knowledge of engineering-related processes from order entry to installation.
  • Lead design reviews, including hazard analysis for assessing safety of designs as well as FMEA.
  • Review, collect, and implement lessons learned.
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and assigned team members.
  • Address projects, assignments and ideas with the "big picture" approach, seeking the best solution.
  • Works in conjunction with Fives MSI Technology leadership.

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an Engineering discipline; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
  • 5+ years' experience in a high technology capital goods manufacturing environment, preferably machine tools.

Skills:
  • Ability to communicate across all areas of the organization including peers and all levels of management.
  • Ability to specify all Siemens and/or FANUC control components including servo motors, spindle motors, and drives associated with a CNC integration.
  • Ability to specify all electrical components associated with a CNC integration.
  • Ability to design electrical schematics using AutoCad.
  • Ability to develop ladder logic including easy screens.
  • Ability to develop and set all related CNC and PMC parameters.
  • Ability to write custom macro programs related to tool changes, pallet changers, etc.
  • Ability to power up and debug a machine from start to finish of a CNC integration.
  • Ability to load all machine parameters and ladder logic into a Siemens and/or FANUC control.
  • Ability to setup and test special machine functions as related to customer's needs.
  • Strong understanding of various engineering disciplines including: mechanical, electrical and controls.
  • Proficient with 3D parametric modeling and MS Office software.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and MS Project.
  • Strive to continuously build knowledge and skills; share expertise with others.
  • Understand business implications of decisions; display orientation to profitability.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of machine tool end-user processes.
  • Ability to schedule project tasks and control costs.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards.

Travel Requirements:

Listed requirements are subject to change based upon Company work load and capacity. Listed requirements are based on current projection of needs.
  • Up to 85%-90% Travel
  • When on the road: 2 weeks on the road, 1 weekend home
  • Flexibility to make quick adjustments to travel arrangements based on customer or company need
  • When not traveling, expectation is to be at company facility in Hebron, KY
