Full Job Description
JOB TITLE: Laboratory Supervisor - Laboratory Services

REPORTS TO: Laboratory Director

POSITION SUMMARY: General: Responsible for technical aspects of the Clinical Laboratory operation.

Representative Activities: Oversees Quality Management program in Blood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Immunology and Urinalysis. Tracks proficiency testing to ensure completeness and troubleshoots failures. Covers for CLS when unable to otherwise fill schedule. Reviews logbooks/log sheets for completeness. Ensures policies and procedures are current and updated. Schedules staff. Administers competency assessments. Performs advanced troubleshooting on instruments as needed. Covers for Director during vacations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Utilizes appropriate computer skills to type, track and print policies and procedures as well as reports (i.e., Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to speak effectively.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science degree; a minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience required. Current California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Current California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist required.
