JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Opportunity

This position works out of our San Diego, CA location on site daily in the Infectious Diseases Division of Abbott Rapid Diagnostics.

We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision-making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott's diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people.
The Cloud Technical Lead role requires enhancing a SaaS cloud platform aimed at improving global health outcomes. Responsibilities include coordinating issue resolutions and mentoring junior engineers cloud platforms. Contribute to product improvements, design and implement cloud-based services and provide technical expertise to shape solutions while staying updated on emerging trends to drive innovation. Leadership, versatility, continuous learning, and a strong passion for software engineering are key qualities for success in this role. Develops system level design documentation and requirements specification, working with marketing, quality, engineering and other stakeholders.

What You'll Work On
Provide overall technical leadership support in use case analysis, feature definition, user needs and functional and non-functional requirements. In addition, be the first line of defense in coordinating and prioritizing timely resolutions with engineering and solution engineering teams. You will also communicate product issues to development and advocate for the customer, and
create knowledge-based content (such as troubleshooting articles and best practices).

In addition:
  • Provide continuous ideas to improve our product.
  • You will bring solutions to the leadership team, feedback on solutions recommended.
  • Learn and improve our existing health care platforms
  • Design and implement services and components utilizing cloud-based platforms
  • Developing high-volume, low-latency services for a global health care platform
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate with APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systems
  • Design and implement unit testable code that is highly maintainable
  • Collaborate directly with InfoSec to design and implement secure solutions
  • Collaborate with both internal and external team members to shape and define API contracts
  • Provide new ideas and insight in collaboration with the data services team
  • Ensure performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.
  • Contribute to significant architectural and operational decisions in collaboration with the Architecture team
  • Build out internal tooling and APIs to make business and engineering processes easier, faster, and safer.
  • Implement systemic changes to align existing systems with current architectural goals
  • Create diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrate the internal design and workflow of solution components
  • Collaborate as an engaged member of an agile team, realizing features through development, test, and delivery
  • Engage in technical planning, design, and code reviews including peer code review of Pull Request
  • Lead effort estimation by working together with development, testing, cybersecurity and quality to provide technical implementation assumptions for the requested features.
  • Stay current with emerging trends, making recommendations as needed to help the organization innovate/• Supports company initiatives and complies with regulatory requirements by FDA and other relevant global regulatory agencies.
  • Gathers and helps determine engineering estimates. Coordinates with project management and functional management to translate engineering estimates into project plan. Defines different needed integration points and dependencies to help drive integrated project plans.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering Mathematics, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure AD/Entra ID or similar identity platforms such as Okta/Identity Serve and etc.
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies such as Azure DevOps/Jenkins.
  • Experience with REST API's technologies such as FastAPI/ASP.NET Core Web API.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services such as Powe BI; Azure Synapse; Kubernetes service, App Service, Azure Function, App Gateway, Azure Blob Storage, Log Analytics, Azure Key Vault, Azure Data Factory, API Gateway, Event Hub.
  • Experience working within a Linux environment.
  • Familiarity with data design and database technologies such as SQL Server, Azure Synapse or similar.
  • Minimum 10 years with 10+ years of experience, or master's degree with 7+ years of related experience, or Ph.D. with 2+ years of related experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred team leadership experience of at least 1 year and demonstrated mentorship capabilities.

The base pay for this position is
$148,700.00 - $297,300.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
