Cloud Playout Systems Engineer is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of Cloud and On-premises broadcast playout at Origination Center. The Cloud Playout System Engineers are at the forefront of Cloud and related IT technologies, interacting with the full breadth of AWS services. Engineers will be responsible for ensuring operational continuity of all global broadcast feeds, uptime for related infrastructure equipment which includes completing detailed tasks assigned.
Your Role Accountabilities...
• To provide technical support of Cloud infrastructure for Global Playout Services related to infrastructure, and cloud playout systems, to ensure the highest possible levels of technical and operational continuity to all Warner Bros. Discovery Networks and maintaining core infrastructure and system health, signal path integrity and signal quality throughout Origination Center.
• Prioritize tasks and respond to calls to quickly resolve technical issues as they arise from Master Control, Live events, Asset management and related areas.
• Understanding of signal routing control systems to route video/audio and Video -over-IP signals.
• Perform shift check routines to ensure the healthy status of the origination facility equipment.
• Compilation of Standard Operating Procedures and documentation in support of Maintenance and Operations.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and maintain superior customer service demeanor.
• Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and meet the demands of a complex work environment.
• Continuous refining of procedures, development, training, and collaboration is a key to our team success.
Qualifications & Experiences...
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field and/or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred IT certification ex. CCNA, MCP, CompTIA A+/Network+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, VMware Associate or equivalent are also a plus.
• Basic experience with Linux, Windows OS, VMware, AWS EC2 and Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting using ubiquitous OS tools (ex. ping, trace route, netstat).
• Working knowledge of remote support tools such as RDP, VNC, Telnet, and SSH.
• Knowledge of cloud-based fundamentals and current technological offerings of vendors such as Amazon AWS is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of public cloud solutions (primarily AWS), video storage (AWS S3) and playout systems and their workflows.
• Preferred understanding of broadcast automation systems. Mediator and Pharos is a plus.
• Ability to understand system drawings and signal flows. AutoCAD skills is a plus.
• Demonstrate the capability to patch around video signals and take other emergency corrective actions rapidly to maintain on-air status of television networks. Escalate to Management during high-priority incidents or during a loss of services.
• Good written and verbal communication skills needed to coordinate both within our department and between departments in various global locations.
• Ability to work any shift schedule.
