This is an exciting opportunity in the Information Technology Department. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be a subject matter expert in the server infrastructure team. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in administering, supporting, troubleshooting, and managing hybrid Cloud environment. The candidate should be familiar with hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) platform, enterprise file share/storage, backup and recovery, antivirus software, SolarWinds monitor software, and PowerShell script automation.
As a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will need to possess strong technical leadership skills, be able to work well with both technical and non-technical staff and have excellent communication skills. In this position, you will own, manage, and be able to complete projects from beginning to end in a timely fashion and must be able to work in a dynamic environment with a mixture of operational tasks and project assignments.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage Public Cloud (Azure) governance and operations, distributed file systems (and/or FileShare), and enterprise storage
- System management and monitoring
- Provide service improvement through automation
- Perform hands-on system configuration and advanced troubleshooting of infrastructure issues to ensure service availability to meet service level expectations
- Design and implement Azure cloud backup and Disaster Recovery of infrastructure services
- Upgrade Windows server and FileShare cluster
- Administer and monitor server backup operations
Please note that the Infrastructure Cloud Engineer position is currently eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (32 hours on site, 8 hours remote). The schedule for working remotely and onsite is subject to change.
Salary Information: The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II classification shall also receive approximately five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
Salary Range (including the 5% NPWI):
- EITE I: $127,108.80 - $154,649.04
- EITE II: $134,643.60 - $164,062.08
The EITE I/II classification is represented by the
Municipal Employees' Federation(MEF) AFSCME, Local 101 bargaining unit.
Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience: - EITE I: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field AND three (3) years of increasingly progressive experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop, data security, application and system administration, and server or network administration or software applications to support end users, electronic business systems/solutions, and software applications for high availability and uptime.
- EITE II: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field AND four (4) years of increasingly progressive experience equivalent to performing technical work of complex difficulty to provide desktop, data security, applications and system administration, and server or network administration or software applications to support end users, electronic business systems/solutions, and software applications for high availability and uptime.
Acceptable Substitution: - Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the education requirement.
Required Licensing (such as driver's license, certifications, etc.)- Possession of a valid State of California driver's license.
- EITE I: Possess an industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Brocade Professional IP Administrator (BPIPA) certification, OR an equivalent professional, industry-recognized certification acceptable to the City.
- EITE II: Possess and maintain a current (non-expired) industry certification that demonstrates expertise in the relevant information technology field, such as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certificate for Windows Server Enterprise, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Network Associate (CCNA) certification, Brocade Professional IP Administrator (BPIPA) certification, OR an equivalent professional, industry-recognized certification acceptable to the City.
