Full Job Description
Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Cloud Migration Architect to serve as the technical lead for migrating legacy exNET on-premises servers and workloads into Flank Speed Azure under the NETCON program. This position acts as the primary "Cloud Concierge" extension for the Cloud & Hosting Agile Release Train (ART), guiding units through workload assessment, migration design, and cutover into Impact Level 5/6 (IL5/IL6) cloud environments.

Responsibilities

The Cloud Migration Architect Will:
  • Serve as the "Cloud Concierge" extension for the NETCON Cloud & Hosting ART, guiding commands through the assessment, planning, and execution of workload migrations from legacy exNET on-premises servers to Flank Speed Azure.
  • Assess legacy on-prem server environments to determine application dependencies, sizing requirements, and optimal migration path (rehost, replatform, or refactor) into Azure Impact Level 5/6 (IL5/IL6) environments.
  • Develop migration wave plans, sequencing workloads by mission priority, technical complexity, and Authority to Operate (ATO) status.
  • Coordinate with Flank Speed cloud engineering teams, Authorizing Officials, and cybersecurity stakeholders to validate that migrated workloads meet DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG) controls for the target impact level.
  • Design and document target-state cloud architecture, including networking, storage, identity integration, and security boundaries within Flank Speed Azure.
  • Support pre-migration testing, data replication, and cutover execution for legacy server workloads, minimizing downtime to mission systems.
  • Develop migration runbooks, rollback procedures, and post-migration validation checklists for each workload wave.
  • Coordinate with commands to identify legacy hardware eligible for decommissioning following successful cloud migration.
  • Support Operational Advisory Group (OAG) and Solution Train briefings by translating cloud migration status and risk into audience-appropriate materials.
  • Recommend architecture and process improvements that reduce migration risk, cost, and schedule across the Cloud & Hosting ART.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum SECRET clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI), or the ability to obtain and maintain required access.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud architecture, cloud migration, or enterprise IT infrastructure engineering.
  • Hands-on experience designing and executing migrations of on-premises server workloads to Microsoft Azure.
  • Working knowledge of DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG) requirements, particularly for Impact Level 5 and 6 environments.
  • Experience with server virtualization, workload assessment, and migration tooling (e.g., Azure Migrate or comparable platforms).
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and coordinating with Authorizing Officials on cloud security control validation.
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking, identity integration, and security architecture as it relates to cloud environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent migration waves while maintaining overall program schedule.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, and customer communication skills.
