The Cloud Engineering Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security of cloud environments. This role involves leading a team of cloud engineers, driving cloud adoption strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust cloud solutions that support business objectives. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technical leader with a deep understanding of cloud technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive cloud transformation initiatives.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of cloud engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Design and implement cloud architectures that are secure, scalable, and optimized for performance, ensuring alignment with business requirements and best practices.
  • Develop and execute cloud strategies, including migration, optimization, and modernization plans, to drive the organization’s cloud adoption and maturity.
  • Oversee the development of automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to provision and manage cloud resources efficiently.
  • Monitor cloud usage and optimize costs, implementing governance and cost-control measures to ensure efficient cloud spending.
  • Ensure that cloud environments adhere to security standards and compliance requirements, implementing controls and monitoring solutions to protect data and systems.
  • Lead incident response for cloud-related issues, ensuring quick resolution and continuous improvement of cloud operations.
  • Work closely with DevOps, software development, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions across the technology stack, ensuring smooth deployment and operation of applications.
  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track the performance and health of cloud environments, proactively addressing potential issues.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on cloud performance, incidents, cost management, and strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Technical Knowledge and Understanding:

  • Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, compliance standards, and data protection.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on designing resilient and efficient cloud solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and management tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Stackdriver) for cloud performance and health monitoring.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and ensuring timely delivery.


Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, architecture, or infrastructure roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including cloud architecture, deployment, and operations.
  • Proven expertise in automation, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable.
