Overview

Looking to make a difference and help protect critical government missions? Join Acuity's team of cloud professionals supporting the U.S. Department of State. As a Cloud Engineer, you will implement, secure, automate, and support enterprise cloud environments across Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Working closely with cybersecurity, networking, systems, and application teams, you will help deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions while supporting cloud modernization, DevSecOps, and federal cybersecurity compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Support migration of enterprise applications and infrastructure to cloud environments, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Implement cloud security controls including Identity and Access Management (IAM), RBAC, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), encryption, network segmentation, security groups, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar automation technologies.
  • Deploy and administer Kubernetes clusters (AKS, EKS, GKE), Docker containers, and cloud-native workloads.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using DevSecOps principles and tools such as Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar platforms.
  • Implement cloud monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability using Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations Suite, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or equivalent tools.
  • Perform cloud vulnerability management, patch management, configuration management, and cloud security posture management (CSPM) to maintain secure cloud environments.
  • Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, compute, identity, and application issues while maintaining high availability and performance.
  • Support implementation of disaster recovery, backup, resiliency, and business continuity solutions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure cloud environments comply with NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and Department of State security requirements.
  • Document cloud configurations, implementation procedures, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with senior cloud engineers, architects, developers, and government stakeholders to implement secure cloud solutions and continuously improve cloud operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of customer mission objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience deploying and supporting IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid cloud solutions.
  • Experience implementing cloud security controls including IAM, encryption, network security, Zero Trust concepts, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience supporting cloud environments governed by NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, or Department of State security standards.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM Templates, CloudFormation, Ansible, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized applications.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations Suite, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, or equivalent.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional technical teams in an Agile environment.

  • AWS Security Specialty
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • Google Professional Cloud Engineer
  • Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer
  • CISSP, CCSP, Security+, Cloud+, or comparable cybersecurity certification
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Prisma Cloud, Wiz, Lacework, Orca, or other Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) platforms.
  • Experience supporting Department of State or other federal civilian cloud environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Clearance Requirement
