This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII's Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

HII designs, develops, integrates and manages the sensors, systems and other assets necessary to support integrated ISR operations and accelerated decision-making. With data fusion and mission management capabilities for the Department of Defense, the combatant commands and the intelligence community, HII advances the mission around the globe.

Job Description

Position Summary:

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to provide cloud-based services and support including but not limited to: systems engineering support, including research, collaboration, authoring and maintaining standardized specifications, configurations and implementing server-based configurations as part of the DMATS TDL 47 Services. The successful candidate may be responsible for configuring, hardening, deploying and sustaining hybrid cloud service architectures in support of a global enterprise service architecture.

This role requires on site work in Mary Esther, FL and cannot be done remotely.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Builds, designs, implements and refines cloud architectures and provides prescriptive guidance across the network and security.
  • Leads early scoping definitions and identifies critical dependencies.
  • Identifies and mitigates technology risks and develops architecture to support processes.
  • Collaborates with functional business units to drive business solutions and direction.
  • Develops and documents framework for integration and implementation of cloud systems.
  • Understands and determines sizing, capacity planning and requirements for infrastructure, network, and security in the cloud offering.
  • Provide technical systems engineering support, including research, collaboration, authoring and maintaining standardized specifications.
  • Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to identify system requirements and develop specifications, performance parameters and optimal configurations.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, requirements, and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members, and even less experienced personnel as required.
  • Participate in testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of cloud-based systems and services.
  • May assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders, and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Coordinating amongst various teams in different engineering disciplines to present a unified, integrated product to project stakeholders.
  • Performing risk management in execution of duties to minimize project risks.
  • Support the development of program deliverables and key artifacts essential to gaining approval of designs and supporting service operations and sustainment efforts.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • 2 years of Enterprise Cloud Services experience.
  • CISSP Certification highly desired; Security + is required in lieu of a CISSP Certification.
  • SECRET Security Clearance with the US government required at hire
  • BAS in Computer Science and/or Cybersecurity strongly desired.


Preferred Requirements

  • Highly experienced with Amazon Web Services; proficient in the knowledge, skills, and abilities to orchestrate resilient and self-healing services.
  • Experience in providing Integration and Testing activities in support of implementing highly automated, enterprise IaaS and SaaS architectures to support a global end user base.
  • Experience with complex IT integration and networking projects.
  • Experience utilizing Agile methodologies and principles as well as Agile frameworks.
  • Experience with collaboration, development tracking, and version control systems such as Confluence, Jira, and GitLab.
  • Knowledge of container fundamentals and deploying container-based services.
  • Very comfortable with integration and testing phases, developing test cases, developing automated testing scripts.
  • Experience with container runtime environments such as Docker and container-orchestration systems such as Kubernetes.
  • Significant design and development experience with databases, specifically with respect to relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Active Directory, MS Exchange, DNS, SIEM services and other core service technologies.
  • Strong familiarization with AWS Cloud Services, with emphasis in GovCloud and Cloud One core and native service offerings.
  • Experience with designing, implementing and sustaining servers in both on premise and cloud-based environments (AWS specifically).
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, including but not limited to: Availability Zones, AMIs, optimizing services to manage cost and ensure resiliency and high availability.
  • Have extensive familiarity with cyber security requirements.
  • Proficient in languages such as C, C++, Java, Verilog, Python, Assembly, HTML/CSS.
  • Keep abreast of current and new security technologies and threats pertaining to the technology areas.
  • Identify integration issues related to the implementation of new systems within the existing infrastructure; recommend mitigation and/or resolution options.
