Role and Responsibilities Our Federal Government client is seeking a System Administrator to provide Azure Cloud expertise for a contract engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain operating systems.
- Select, deploy, and configure appropriate operating system images (Windows and Linux) for each virtual machines to meet the application or database requirements.
- Maintain and upgrade operating system images (Windows and Linux) on virtual machines as required to reduce security risks, maximize system availability and performance.
- Install, monitor, upgrade and maintain hardware and software.
- Provide advice to a project team on technical requirements related to the cloud environment in order to support the deployment of applications and databases.
- Liaise with software vendors to deploy and integrate software solutions within a project's spoke.
- Select, deploy, configure and integrate cloud resources to support software and databases.
- Select, deploy and configure cloud resources to meet the intent of the selected security controls from ITSG-333 identified by the project to meet a specified security profile.
- Provide expertise to select, deploy, configure and integrate the following services within a project's spoke: Virtual Machines (with a specified operating system); Databases (Oracle and SQL); Elasticity groups; Microsoft Azure Active Directory; Microsoft Azure Active Directory Domain Services;
- Develop Infrastructure as code for the deployment of a development pipeline between various subscription such as sandbox, development, pre-production, and production.
- Develop financial estimates to forecast the cost of cloud resources based on project requirements.
- Perform vulnerability management to identify security vulnerabilities on cloud subscriptions.
- Provide advice to a project team on technical requirements related to the cloud environment in order to maximize performance and availability while keeping the overall cost to a minimum.
- Apply problem solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Provide technical expertise to resolve incidents requiring changes to the cloud environment.
- Ensure timely and reliable system administration procedures, such as backup and/or recovery.
- Implement backup policies within the cloud environment to meet a specified time to recovery.
- Enact recovery procedures within the established time to recovery.
- Analyze the system performance and recommend improvements
- Recommend improvements that would increase overall system performance and availability.
