Job Summary

Summary

The Social Work Team Lead provides clinical leadership, supervision, and direct behavioral health services within Mass General Brigham for Children's integrated pediatric primary care program. This role supports a newly established team of embedded behavioral health clinicians across MGB for Children primary care practices, fostering high-quality, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and families. Embedded within a primary care site, the Team Lead partners closely with pediatric providers to deliver consultation, behavioral health assessment, triage, crisis planning, and brief, time-limited interventions for an assigned patient panel. In addition to maintaining a clinical caseload, the Team Lead provides clinical supervision and mentorship to social workers and licensed mental health counselors, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes to the ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of integrated behavioral health services across the department.

What you will do

  • Provide supervision to interns, social workers, and licensed mental health counselors
  • Co-facilitate bi-monthly case sharing group
  • Provides psychosocial assessments of patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal and/or environmental issues. Formulates biopsychosocial assessment, disposition, and treatment plans.
  • Provides mandated assessments when abuse is suspected (child, disabled adult, elder) and specialized safety assessment when violence is suspected
  • Collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients' needs as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plan.
  • Knowledgeable in therapeutic behavioral interventions, skill-building strategies, crisis assessment, management, and interventions.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPPA, Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Centers for Medicare / Medicaid regulations.
  • Completes required documentation and paperwork including biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning and implementation in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate and resolve issues effectively with a broad population of patients, staff and physicians.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team with a varied population of clients.
  • Display strong leadership and communication skills to clearly guide peers.

  • Master's Degree in Social Work required

  • Leads or actively participates in clinical practice inquiries, teaching, projects, or research demonstrating expertise and depth of knowledge of social work practice and skills.
  • May participate in the recruitment, onboarding and retention processes.
  • Leads department/service initiatives; participates in initiatives at an Enterprise and Professional Association level.
  • Uses data to define baseline issues and measure progress.
  • Oversees collaboration and education among all disciplines and outside stakeholders to enhance patient care.
