Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Position Summary

The Toronto Western Hospital Clinical Research Unit is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Coordinator III (Research Nurse) to support a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas. The Clinical Research Coordinator III collaborates with Investigators, research staff, and health care teams for the overall patient management and coordination of a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas.

Duties
  • Provide high-quality clinical care to participants in clinical trials
  • Coordinate study start-up activities, including preparation of Research Ethics Board applications
  • Perform clinical assessments including vital signs, ECGs, medical history collection, medication reconciliation, and administration of investigational products and treatments as per study protocol
  • Monitor participant safety, identify and report adverse events, and escalate clinical concerns to the Most Responsible Physician as appropriate
  • Coordination of biological sample collection including processing and supporting shipment
  • Screen and recruit study participants, obtain informed consent, and support participant retention through the study
  • Ensure compliance with ICH Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Health Canada regulations, and UHN policies
  • Maintain accurate and timely source documentation and case report forms
  • Liaise with investigators, sponsors, monitors, and interdisciplinary teams to support study conduct
  • Provide operational support for the TWH Centre for Clinical Research, including management of clinical supplies, equipment, and development of standard operating procedures


Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Bachelor's degree, or recognized equivalent and current certificate of competence (licensure/registration) from a college legislated under the Regulated Health Professions Act
  • Minimum 2-3 years of clinical experience in Neurology preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating patient care
  • Evidence of good physical assessment, psychosocial assessment and patient/family teaching skill
  • Proficient in phlebotomy, IV insertion, and operation of infusion pumps
  • Minimum 1-2 years of clinical research experience preferred
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines is an asset
  • Knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations and basic laboratory procedures an asset
  • Experience using Epic for clinical documentation and ordering is required
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to support a diverse portfolio of clinical trials across multiple therapeutic areas
