Full Job Description

The primary role of this position is to accurately administer and score standardized neuropsychological test batteries, evaluate cognitive status of potential participants (i.e. complete behavioral rating scales, administer testing of motor physical functioning and morphometric body measurements, accurately score test results and maintains records of test scores, services provided, and other required information, cross score other psychometrists as needed) for Alzheimer's research studies under the supervision of a neuropsychologist and Dr. Meyer at the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center in Sacramento.

This role will also coordinate research studies and associated data tracking and management which include recording observations and scores legibly and maintaining participant confidentiality. This role also conducts outreach and recruitment of participants and provides support to various research projects. Due to requirements to work closely with potential study participants, the applicant is expected to effectively build rapport with community members and maintain a positive attitude in gaining potential participants' cooperation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of working with study subjects
  • Experience with clinical study protocols
  • Must understand and follow federal, state and university regulations for conducting research on human subjects.
  • Must understand and follow good clinical practices for clinical research
  • Ability to speak and read in Vietnamese.
  • Experience working in a team environment as well as independently, being flexible with changing priorities, work environment, and schedules.
  • Experience in taking initiative to accomplish tasks and completes duties as assigned.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Experience using computer systems and software applications such as RedCap, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications
  • CITI Certification for Biomedical Researchers and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline highly preferred
  • Prior experience in conducting interviews or assessments.

Department Overview

The Department of Neurology conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, movement disorders like Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache and sleep disorders.

Our faculty includes leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of nervous system function, as well as neurologists and psychologists who provide diagnosis and treatment for adults and children. We partner with colleagues from throughout the health system and work closely with the Department of Neurological Surgery to provide multidisciplinary team management for neurological disorders. We also offer cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities.
