Full Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Clinical Radiotherapy Physicist to join the Radiation Dosimetry Core within the Radiotherapy Physics Division at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK), based in Manhattan. This position is designed for therapeutic medical physics residents completing a CAMPEP-accredited residency in 2027. This is an excellent opportunity to launch your career in one of the largest clinical physics programs in the country, supporting ~30 linear accelerators and 20 simulation suites across 8 regional sites. You'll build a strong foundation in commissioning, quality assurance (QA) and advanced dosimetry, with mentorship and support toward board certification. Role Overview: As part of the Radiation Dosimetry Core, you will help develop, implement and improve MSK's QA and dosimetry programs across multiple clinical sites, working alongside experienced physicists. • Perform routine and advanced QA for linear accelerators and CT simulators at our Manhattan campuses, growing into oversight of daily QA across the Main Campus and Koch Center. • Take part in commissioning new treatment equipment and software, alongside senior physicists. • Participate in crosscalibration of dosimetry equipment (ion chambers, electrometers). • Help develop and improve the enterprise QA database and workflows, including automation and software tools that serve all 8 sites. • Help evaluate and implement new QA technologies. • Support or lead development projects within the Radiation Dosimetry Core. • Support clinical operations in external beam radiotherapy physics, including the opportunity of rotations into special procedures. Key Qualifications: • Master's degree or PhD in medical physics or a related physical science. • Currently enrolled in a CAMPEP-accredited therapeutic medical physics residency, with completion expected in 2027. • ABR board eligibility in Therapeutic Medical Physics upon completion of residency. • Eligibility for a New York State limited permit and New Jersey registration. MSK will support both applications. In addition, we cover two professional society fees and one conference every 2 years. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to travel periodically to MSK regional sites as needed . Core Skills: • Solid training in radiotherapy physics, with an interest in QA and dosimetry. • Hands-on residency experience with linac and CT simulator QA. • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including radiation oncologists and radiation therapists. • Programming skills; experience with databases or automation is a plus. • Strong problem-solving skills and curiosity about clinical development projects.
