Job DescriptionColonial Behavioral Health is seeking a highly qualified Clinical Manager to provide clinical leadership, coordination, oversight and administrative management for a new 8-bed Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). As a member of the crisis leadership team, the Clinical Manager will contribute directly to the design, development and implementation of this innovative, integrated crisis services model, helping shape the future of behavioral health care in the region. This position will support operations across the crisis continuum, at the direction of the Clinical Administrator - Crisis Services, and provide leadership coverage as needed.
This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in the launch of the Center for Support and Wellness, a new facility tentatively scheduled to open in Fall 2026. The center will co-locate Colonial Behavioral Health's crisis and forensic programs, including the Crisis Intervention Team Assessment Center (CITAC), along with planned additions such as a 23-hour Crisis Stabilization Unit and the Residential CSU.
Job Duties - Provides managerial and team leadership - coaching, training and assistance to other clinicians in service provision of Crisis Services
- Provides Crisis Services - assessment of acute crisis problems, risks, functioning and mental status; pre-admission screening; triage; and counseling supports
- Develop and coordinate interventions to ensure treatment delivery in the least restrictive setting within the standards of care
- Promote positive communication and collaboration among team members and other community stakeholders, including hospital and correctional staff, law enforcement, family members, clinicians, and others
- Completes quality improvement reviews and quality assurance activities
- Provides clinical supervision, licensure supervision, and evaluation of staff performance
- Provides oversight of delivered services for regulatory compliance, reimbursement, and quality improvement
- Develop department work schedule
- Provides on-call consultation and coverage as needed
- Prepare service utilization reports and provide status updates
- Other duties as assigned or required
Work Schedule Primarily Monday through Friday work schedule; Position may require shifts outside of regular schedule when needed for departmental coverage, to include evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
Qualifications (EEO) - Knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders
- Possess knowledge of crisis intervention models and theories, and resources available to help individuals with serious emotion and developmental disabilities, including individuals with co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of law enforcement and the criminal justice system, including basic understanding of the issues confronting law enforcement and crisis services
- Familiarity with regulatory sources, including the Code of Virginia, Department of Medical Assistance (DMAS), and the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS)
- Effective networking and collaboration with multiple jurisdictions and community partners
- Ability to provide clinical and licensure supervision
- Effective time management skills, ability to multi-task and maintain appropriate records
- Ability to learn new concepts quickly and effectively relay these new concepts to others
- Minimum 3 years of clinical and management experience in mental health, substance use disorders and crisis interventions required
- Valid driver's license is required
- Master's Degree in a human services field required
- Must hold a valid license from the Board of Counseling, Board of Social Work, or Board of Psychology (LPC, LCSW, LMFT or LCP) required
- Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire required
- DBHDS Preadmission Screening Certificate, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire required
