Position Overview:To implement and manage the day-to-day operations of clinical education experiences for nursing students within their assigned program(s). The CLM may assist with identification, negotiation, arrangement, standardization, and evaluation of all clinical experiences as needed with the support of campus leadership. The CLM will focus on logistical, compliance, and quality-monitoring tasks under the guidance and direction of the Director of Clinical Learning (DCL) or campus dean.
Key Responsibilities:1. Outcomes
a. Collect, organize, and report clinical experience data to support the Director of Clinical Learning's strategic evaluation and planning via clinical walkthrough surveys and clinical grading audits.
b. Attends and supports campus committee meetings as assigned
c. In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Learning, responsible for ensuring clinical quality delivery through clinical site walkthroughs for each faculty and clinical site every quarter.
2. Faculty
a. Supports faculty with the resolution of student concerns regarding clinical experiences with oversight from the DCL.
b. faculty stay interviews, 90-day and annual evaluations for assigned adjunct clinical faculty.[SW1]
c. interviewing, hiring, retention, and ongoing development of clinical faculty in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Learning and Clinical Faculty Success Specialist.
3. Students
a. Assists with ensuring that all students and faculty are oriented to clinical experiences and compliant with compliance requirements according to Galen and clinical agency policies in collaboration with the campus and college team.
4. Curriculum
a. Implements college-wide initiatives, policy changes, and process updates with direction from the DCL.
5. Resources
a. Assists with the execution of and maintenance of clinical affiliation agreements to ensure that records are current and comply with regulatory standards for clinical experiences.
b. Collaborates with Clinical Faculty Success Specialist, as applicable, to ensure faculty readiness and preparedness for clinical learning instruction and to determine faculty teaching assignments.
6. Governance
a. Responsible for mapping course learning outcomes to specific unit experiences and updating internal clinical agency information as appropriate to support appropriate placement and scheduling.
b. Assist with identifying, negotiating, establishing, maintaining, and evaluating clinical agency partnerships and satisfaction to ensure that a variety of clinical experiences are available for student learning and application of clinical practice under the guidance of the DCL.
7. Community Outreach
a. Serves as the campus point-of-contact to clinical agencies for routine communications, concerns, and site logistics and may escalate to DCL or campus dean.
Position Requirements:Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse.
Education: Minimum qualification of an MSN, or in progress, with at least two (2) years' experience in clinical education, with nursing background and knowledge that includes an understanding of the educational objectives and experiences of student nurses, an understanding of the clinical practice of nursing, knowledge of the diverse organizational environments in which nurses practice, and knowledge of the types of clinical sites needed to meet course content and objectives.
Special Qualifications: At least two (2) years of clinical education experience, excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to interpret learning experience needs of students and match them to the capabilities of clinical placement agencies, excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to be creative and innovative, and proficient computer skills in order to collect and analyze data.
Academic nursing certification preferred.
