Job Summary:CLS 1: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 1 is the entry level of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist series. Under general supervision, incumbents perform laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens while developing proficiency in laboratory instrumentation, quality assurance, regulatory requirements, and departmental procedures. The CLS 1 learns the operational and technical requirements of all assigned laboratory sections and progressively demonstrates competency in clinical testing methodologies.
CLS 2: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 2 independently performs clinical laboratory testing and analysis across assigned laboratory sections. Incumbents exercise professional judgment in evaluating specimens, validating results, troubleshooting instrument issues, and resolving routine technical problems. The CLS II serves as a resource to laboratory staff and contributes to quality improvement initiatives and departmental operations.
CLS 3: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist 3 serves as a senior technical resource and laboratory leader responsible for advanced testing, complex problem resolution, quality management, regulatory compliance, staff development, and process improvement. Incumbents provide technical leadership across laboratory operations and serve as subject matter experts for assigned laboratory disciplines.
