Position Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Business Analyst - Inpatient to serve as a key liaison between inpatient clinical staff, including nursing, pharmacy, and physicians, and the IT development team.

The role will gather, document, and validate clinical workflow requirements for inpatient EHR modules, ensuring system designs align with real-world clinical practice, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry)
• Inpatient Pharmacy workflows
• Patient-facing bedside workflows

An active or eligible Registered Nurse (RN) license is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities
• Partner with nursing, pharmacy, physician, and IT teams to gather and document clinical workflow requirements.
• Translate clinical workflows into functional requirements, user stories, and product requirements.
• Validate EHR module designs and prototypes against clinical practice and patient safety standards.
• Serve as a clinical SME for medication reconciliation workflows.
• Provide clinical input on CPOE, CDS alerts, dosing calculations, formulary display, and SIG accuracy.
• Support inpatient MAR workflow validation, including medication administration and nursing documentation.
• Provide clinical input on pharmacy workflows, dispensing queues, formularies, and ADC integration.
• Conduct workflow observation sessions to identify pain points and improvement opportunities.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by developing clinical test scenarios and validating system behavior.
• Facilitate communication between clinical end users and development teams during build, testing, and go-live.
• Support post-go-live optimization and enhancement requests.
• Ensure workflows align with applicable clinical and regulatory standards.
• Assist with training materials and workflow guides for clinical users.
• Participate in incident and issue reviews related to clinical system functionality.

Required Qualifications
• Active RN license or RN license eligibility in New Jersey, or ability to obtain one.
• Minimum 3 years of inpatient clinical nursing experience in Med-Surg, ICU, ED, or a similar acute-care setting.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in clinical informatics, business analysis, or EHR implementation.
• Strong understanding of inpatient clinical workflows, including admission, medication administration, transfers, and discharge planning.
• Familiarity with EHR systems; experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar systems is relevant.
• Working knowledge of medication safety and medication reconciliation processes.
• Ability to translate clinical requirements into clear documentation for technical teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
• BSN or higher.
• Informatics certification, such as ANCC Informatics Nursing Certification.
• Experience with FHIR, HL7, or C-CDA interoperability standards.
• Experience with EHR CPOE, Pharmacy, MAR, or Med Rec modules.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience authoring or reviewing clinical PRDs.
• Experience supporting multi-site EHR rollouts or new site onboarding.
