Midwestern University, Physical Therapy Institute is announcing a 12-month, full-time, clinical faculty opportunity. This clinical faculty position is at the rank of clinical assistant professor and consists primarily of patient care in an outpatient setting treating predominantly patients with orthopedic conditions including TMD and vestibular conditions. Additional responsibilities include clinical teaching, scholarship, and service. The Physical Therapy Institute is located within the Multispecialty Clinic in Downers Grove, IL. This state-of-the-art facility encompasses both teaching classrooms, patient care and research spaces.
Qualifications include: 1) entry-level or transitional DPT, 2) eligibility for licensure in Illinois, 3) two years of clinical experience 4) Candidates with specialization as an orthopedic clinical specialist will enhance the candidate's application.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Efficiently and effectively, evaluate patients, develop evidence-based treatment plans, and carry out individually designed programs of physical therapy treatment to maintain, improve or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.
- Promptly complete all daily documentation such as evaluation and daily notes, billing, discharge summaries, and physician correspondence in the established format.
- Comply with all pertinent rules and regulations within the Illinois State Practice Act, the American Physical Therapy Association's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and Midwestern University Clinical Policies.
- Maintain safe working environment and effective infection control by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Collaborate with MWU Family Medicine Clinic, Speech & Language Institute, Dental Institute, and Eye Institute as necessary.
- Provide clinical instruction and education of physical therapist students.
- Develop and perform group therapy sessions.
- Provide support for MWU Interprofessional Screening Clinics.
- Provide support for other professional student observation experiences.
- Participate in clinical research and mentor PT student scholarly projects.
- Participates in service activities such as providing educational sessions to MWU, professional PT educational program, and surrounding communities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the PTI Academic Clinic Coordinator.
