The CPO Clinic Lead I drives the success of their clinic by ensuring high-quality patient care and making decisions that impact both clinic performance and outcomes. They work closely with internal partners to support positive results for patients and the local team. Clinic Leads also help clinicians improve efficiency, optimize workflows, and deliver care more effectively.

The Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist is specifically trained and educated to independently provide or supervise the provision of comprehensive prosthetic and orthotic care. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.

Prosthetics and Orthotics combine a unique blend of clinical and technical skills. Prosthetist/Orthotists evaluate patients and custom design, fabricate and fit prostheses and orthoses. They work with other members of the rehabilitation team, design with computers, and help change a patient's life.

Clinician Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Depending on the operational requirements, size of the Hanger Clinic and subject to limitations imposed by state and/or local law, this position may include some or all of the functions listed below.
  • Collaborate with physicians in the evaluation and analysis of a patients need for prosthetic or orthotic service; recommend treatment options to physicians when necessary.
  • Examine and evaluate patient's needs in relation to disease and functional loss.
  • Formulate design of prosthetic or orthopedic devices.
  • Perform fitting, including static and dynamic alignments.
  • Evaluate prosthesis or orthotic device on patient, adjust to assure fit, function, medical efficacy, and quality of work.
  • Instruct patient in use of prosthesis or orthotics.
  • Identify and reconcile issues/problems to ensure patient satisfaction with devices provided.
  • Provide follow-up with patients and physicians.
  • Provide detailed clinical notes to patient records.
  • Provide information to administrative staff to conduct reimbursement activities.
  • Provide in-service training to physicians and allied health care professionals.
  • Select materials, make cast measurements, model modifications, and layouts, taking into account new techniques and materials
  • Utilize effective materials management, quality and performance processes to maximize device quality and medical efficacy, maintaining a proper balance with costs and operational/financial performance.
  • Meet with physicians, case managers and other referral sources to review services and capabilities; develop and enhance business relationships to identify and secure ongoing and future sources or referrals.
  • Responsible with manager to plan and implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets, working with clinic leadership to develop external referral sources.
  • May mentor residents or newly certified Prosthetists or Orthotists
  • Provide assistance to other clinical staff.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations; compliance with Medicare, HIPAA and, and other governmental regulations; compliance with bloodborne and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A baccalaureate degree or masters in orthotics and prosthetics (or its foreign equivalent) OR a baccalaureate degree (or its foreign equivalent) and post graduate certificate in orthotics and prosthetics from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education
  • Programs (CAAHEP) and the successful completion of a residency accredited by the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE).
  • Current board certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics from the American Board for Certification (ABC) or the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC).
  • In states where licensure is required, the ability to obtain and maintain state licensure is required as well.
  • Demonstrated past experience in providing prosthetic and orthotic services under the supervision of a certified practitioner
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid drivers license and driving record within the standards outlined within Hangers Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and Procedures.
