Client Controller to join our growing team. In this leadership role, you'll own the financial oversight and strategy for a portfolio of nonprofit clients. You will guide accounting teams, provide high-level financial insights, and ensure accurate, timely reporting that supports mission-aligned decision-making. As the linchpin between our internal staff and client leadership, you'll be key in building long-term financial health and accountability.

What You'll Do - Serve as the lead finance advisor for a portfolio of nonprofit clients, managing the full scope of financial oversight, planning, and compliance.
- Lead monthly financial review meetings with clients to present results, highlight trends, and support data-driven decisions.
- Supervise and review work completed by Associates and Senior Associates, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close process including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial package preparation.
- Prepare and review financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and budget-to-actual analyses.
- Support clients in annual budget development, mid-year forecasting, and grant/contract reporting.
- Advise clients on internal controls, accounting policies, and financial best practices tailored to nonprofit operations.
- Ensure clients remain compliant with IRS, state, and local requirements, including 990 support and audit readiness.
- Assist with the preparation and review of financial documentation for audits, tax filings, and board presentations.
- Contribute to the development of internal SOPs and coach team members on improving process efficiency and client service delivery.
- Collaborate with leadership on client expansion, new service offerings, and staff development.
What You Bring - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including controllership or finance leadership within the nonprofit sector.
- Deep understanding of U.S. nonprofit GAAP, fund accounting, and financial reporting for grants/restricted funding.
- Proficiency with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, and Excel; experience with integrations and system optimization is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients or projects with professionalism, accuracy, and grace under pressure.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to present complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
