What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking an R&D Electrical Engineer to join our team. This opening provides an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual with a scientific or engineering background to make significant contributions to major weapon modernization programs at Sandia.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Document and implement test planning, test execution, and requirements verification.
- Conduct environmental testing in support of design qualification.
- Troubleshoot and document test anomalies.
- Contribute to integration activities with other systems engineers and product realization teams.
- Prepare for technical reviews.
- Represent Sandia on multi-organizational project teams.
This position requires the ability to travel up to 25%.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 100% of the time at the Albuquerque, NM facility.
Salary Range$117,500 - $235,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
- Active DOE Q-level security clearance, or equivalent DoD clearance.
Qualifications We DesireThe ideal R&D S&E Electrical Engineer candidate for Sandia National Laboratories will in addition possess the following:
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
- Ability to work independently and collaborate well in a multidisciplinary team of designers and test engineers.
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, including the ability to develop and present briefings that are clear and compelling.
Also, for this posting we are seeking individuals with the following experience:
- Experience designing and executing system level tests, especially in electromagnetic radiation or pulsed power environments.
- Experience in nuclear deterrence and/or weapons modernization programs.
- Experience writing technical requirements.
- Strong technical writing and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-energy, collaborative, team-focused environment.
- Ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines.
About Our TeamDepartment 08261, System Environmental Qualification Testing, is responsible for developing and executing system level environmental tests in normal and abnormal environments in support of weapon modernization program qualification.
