Classification Specialist

Description

TeleSolv is seeking a skilled and disciplined Classification Specialist to provide technical and administrative human resources management services related to position classification. The successful candidate will support classification activities by reviewing position descriptions, applying Government classification standards, preparing evaluation statements, and helping ensure consistency in compensation levels across employment programs. This role requires sound judgment, strong writing ability, and the experience to work independently in a professional, compliance-focused environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Tentatively classify position descriptions and associated evaluation statements in accordance with Government classification standards, including supervisory, team leader, wage supervisor, and wage leader guides.
  • Compare position descriptions against similar position descriptions and classification standards to help ensure consistency in compensation levels across employment programs.
  • Prepare evaluation statements for precedent-setting classification decisions that may serve as accepted guidance and standards for future classification work.
  • Assist in conducting job evaluations in accordance with Government policies, directives, and procedures.
  • Upload documents, data, and text into the Government position classification system.
  • Prepare advisory evaluation statements for precedent-setting classification decisions for review and future use.
  • Submit modified drafts and new position descriptions electronically to subject matter experts, command staff advisors, and organizational modification effort managers for comment and approval.
  • Edit existing position descriptions, insert new language, and prepare workforce profiles.


Qualifications:
  • Minimum of six years of experience performing classification support services similar to those described for this position.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting classification activities, including the review of position descriptions, comparison against classification standards, preparation of evaluation statements, and support for job evaluations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Government policy, regulations, and directives in a legally sound manner.
