Claims Specialist, Construction in our
Casualty Claims team.
Location: This position can be based out of our

What you'll be doing:
- Direct handling and management of primary and excess General Liability claims for Construction-related insureds such as Bodily Injury and Property Damage, as well as potentially Construction Defect.
- Provide coverage and analytical analysis of potential exposures and establish appropriate reserves.
- Communicate appropriate responses to management and underwriters on new losses and provide written assessments on loss and expense trends and high exposure cases.
- Manage counsel where assigned; develop and execute strategy to control expenses and resolve litigated claims; and effectively represent the company's interests in meetings and negotiations.
- Proactively manage correspondence, claim files, and maintain an accurate and current diary in compliance with company standards.
- Support underwriters and actuaries during the renewal process and maintain claim and industry-related expertise to assure technical competency and communicate significant issues and relevant changes.
What you'll bring:
- BA/BS degree preferred; Juris Doctorate preferred but not required; adjuster's license required.
- Minimum 3-5 years in an insurance technical claims position or at a law firm with an emphasis on managing Construction-related files.
- Insurance-related professional designations or education such as CPCU, IIA, or SCLA a plus.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to assess coverage, tender opportunities, claim strategy, reserving, and resolution options.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with underwriting partners, manage multiple projects to successful completion, prioritize independently, and work effectively as a self-starter and team player.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and claims systems; Guidewire, Genius, and ImageRight experience a plus.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $125,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
