Full Job Description
The Role

As the Claims Specialist, your technical expertise in claims adjudication will allow you to evaluate complex, unique, high-value, and large-loss claims. You will provide subject matter expertise to the Claims team and Agricorp. This position reports to the Team Leader, Claims Services. In this role, you will:

  • Adjudicate large and complex cases for all Agricorp programs, adhering to standard operating procedures and complying with applicable government legislation
  • Create client files, assess applications for claims against coverage, review data, source incomplete data, research and investigate, make and implement decisions based on Agricorp's contractual obligations and adjudication principles
  • Create and maintain relationships with clients, agencies and producers to affect their positive customer experience
  • Act as a subject matter expert by providing support and guidance to the Claims team when dealing with complex or escalated client files
  • Make decisions on benefit payments, settlements or claims ineligibility within the dollar limit assigned
  • Provide benefit claims approvals on files as required to a prescribed authority level and seek additional approvals where required
  • Conduct quality reviews as directed by Team Leader and provide feedback to ensure high standards and consistency
  • Ensure proper escalation, stakeholder involvement and communication when issues arise or service standards are not met
  • Act as a technical trainer for the functional development of Claims staff and contribute to training materials
  • Act as a subject matter expert on projects and in meetings
  • Suggest changes to standard operating procedures and performance standards for the Claims unit
  • Coach and mentor staff for their professional development
