Summary:

We are looking for a highly capable Claims Reinsurance Analyst to join our team and work from our Chicago office. We work together in the office five days a week in order to strengthen our culture, build team connections, and drive profitability. The position reports to the VP, Reinsurance Claims and is focused on XOL and Facultative Reinsurance reporting, billing, and collection activities, including URS data validation and reconciliation.

This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Working under technical direction and within significant limits and authority, handle XOL and Facultative Reinsurance reporting, billing, and collection activities with a direct impact on departmental results.


  • Collaborating with Reinsurance Accounting on collection and related issues and URS data validation and reconciliation efforts.


  • Securing the timely and accurate settlement of reinsurance claims


  • Tracking open recoverable balances to ensure timely collection and follow-up.


  • Assisting with commutation and other strategic efforts


Qualifications / Experience Required:

  • Must have good business acumen (i.e. understand how an insurance company works and makes money, including how this role impacts both Argo Group and our customers' ability to be profitable).


  • A practical knowledge of reinsurance accounting, as well as an exceptional customer service focus typically achieved through:


  • A minimum of two years of reinsurance accounting experience


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Accounting, Insurance or related degree required. Four additional years of related accounting experience beyond the minimum experience required above may be substituted in lieu of a degree.


  • Must work independently and demonstrate the ability to exercise sound judgment.


  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.


  • Excellent evaluation and analytical skills required.


  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize workload while handling multiple tasks and deadlines.


  • Ability to articulate the financial value of your work at multiple responsibility levels inside our clients' business which may include CEO.


  • Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

The base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. In addition to base salary, all employees are eligible for an annual bonus based on company and individual performance as well as a generous benefits package.

  • Chicago Pay Range: $86,000 - $101,500
