Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, and direction to associates in the Risk Management department.

  • Collaborate with the Environmental Health and Safety team on property inspections and loss control recommendations.
  • Handle serious incident calls, including on-site travel and direct engagement with residents, claimants, and attorneys.
  • Compose responses to discovery requests, review depositions, and contribute to defense strategy development.
  • Review small claim cases and attend court hearings as needed.

You provide vision, leadership and direction to Associates within the Risk Management Department. You are responsible for oversight and management of all General Liability, Property and litigated claims. This includes claim reporting, investigation and management. You review and assign new incidents/claims to the Risk Management department for set up and investigation including providing guidance and direction regarding claim case management. You will advise the Senior Director and the Senior Vice President of high exposure claims and maintain the status on all open litigated claim files.

You will work with the Environmental Health and Safety Team on property inspections and loss control recommendations for employees. You will handle calls of a serious nature, incidents involving bodily injury or significant property damage which will include traveling to communities and/or jobsites as necessary. You will resolve calls from problematic residents, claimants and plaintiff attorneys. Compose responses to discovery requests and sign verification forms on litigated matters. Review deposition transcripts and contributes to the development of defense strategies. Review small claim cases before court appearances and travel to and attend small claim hearings as needed.

Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree or higher with specific training.
• Experience and certification in the areas of insurance, claims and risk management.
• Management experience and a proven record for organization, leadership and motivation.
• 4 years of progressively responsible experience in managing a comprehensive risk management or insurance underwriting and general liability insurance program.

The Claims Manager position, depending on experience, has a salary range of $10,000 to $12,500 per month with a discretionary yearend bonus potential, plus benefits!
