Position DescriptionRole SummaryA seasoned claims leader responsible for owning claims from intake through closure across Workers' Comp, auto/fleet, general liability, and property (as applicable). The Claims Manager drives strategy, cadence, escalation, partner accountability, and reporting, and is accountable to the General Counsel for outcomes.
Core ResponsibilitiesClaims Ownership (All Lines)
- Manage files end-to-end with clear timelines, next steps, and escalation.
- Identify and actively manage high-exposure and aging claims.
Workers' Compensation (With Safety)
- Coordinate RTW, restrictions, and lost-time minimization.
- Support timely reporting, investigations, and documentation.
Auto / GL / Property
- Oversee reporting, fact-gathering, and strategic management.
- Partner with Ops, HR, Safety, and Finance for aligned claim strategy.
External Partner Management
- Hold TPAs, carriers, brokers, and providers accountable for responsiveness and documentation quality.
- Ensure consistent reporting cadence and issue escalation.
Reserves & Financial Oversight
- Monitor reserves and incurred values.
- Provide reserve recommendations to the General Counsel.
- Authority: The Claims Manager may recommend reserve changes; reserve change decisions require review and approval by the General Counsel.
Litigation Support
- Prepare facts, chronologies, and documentation for counsel.
- General Counsel remains the primary point of contact with outside counsel.
Reporting & Governance
- Maintain accurate claim tracking and dashboards.
- Deliver weekly open-claims summaries and visibility into exposures, aging, RTW status, and trends.
Process & Continuous Improvement
- Standardize intake, documentation, and escalation processes.
- Identify claim drivers and partner with Safety/Operations on corrective actions.
Position RequirementsQualificationsRequired
- 10+ years in claims with Workers' Comp + at least one of auto/GL/property.
- Demonstrated ability to drive proactive file management.
- Strong communication, organization, and judgment.
Preferred
- Construction (or similarly complex operations) experience.
- Experience managing TPAs, carriers, and brokers.
First 60-90 Days: Performance Expectations- Stand up consistent intake and escalation workflows.
- Launch weekly open-claims reporting to the General Counsel.
- Deliver clear visibility into top exposures, aging files, litigation posture, and RTW status.
- Demonstrate disciplined external partner coordination and improved timeliness.
